CNN Presents: In the Footsteps of bin Laden, By Marilyn Moss, 9 p.m., Aug. 23, CNN---
CNN's fascinating documentary "In the Footsteps of bin Laden" is a biography of sorts, a bio of a man and of a growing terrorist landscape. It's information we should have. Reported by Christiane Amanpour (who better?), the docu charts bin Laden's growth as a man and as a radical. Hardly a detail of his life and life's work is left behind in the fast-moving look at this elusive man.

Officials haven't said if it involved data mining, but experts say that data mining can be a valuable tool in the war on terror if it is applied properly. The question is: Is it?

The Future of Computing,

"Penn State computer science professor Max Fomitchev explains that computing has evolved in a spiral pattern from a centralized model to a distributed model that retains some aspects of centralized computing. Single-task PC operating systems (OSes) evolved into multitasking OSes to make the most of increasing CPU power, and the introduction of the graphical user interface at the same time reduced CPU performance and fueled demands for even more efficiencies. "The role of CPU performance is definitely waning, and if a radical new technology fails to materialize quickly we will be compelled to write more efficient code for power consumption costs and reasons," Fomitchev writes. They are FREE ! -- Obviously, the pressure many among us have been putting on the Chadian regime has paid off. In fact, today, the four journalists imprisoned in Chad have been freed. Michael Didama, Koumbo Singa Gali, Garonde Djarma and Samory Ngaradoumbe are out of jail. This is victory for all the freedom fighters. Unfortunately, according to other sources, another journalist has been arrested in Moissala, South Chad today. So, the victory is bitter sweet because the struggle for a freedom of press in Chad has just begun and we must remain vigilant.  Thanks to all those who have supported this cause. Our thanks go out RSF and CPJ. Shame on those who have minimized the sense of our mobilization to get those men and women out of jail. They sat back, watch, had a big mouth and that's all they know.
